Overview
Your Rankd account and what you post are stored on Rankd’s servers, so they are the same on your iPhone and on the web. Earlier versions of the app also kept a copy in your iCloud. We never sell your personal data. The iPhone app shows ads through Google AdMob to keep Rankd free — see Advertising below.
What We Collect
Account: your email address and password if you sign up with email — the password is stored only as a salted one-way hash that nobody can read back — or an anonymous identifier from Apple if you use Sign in with Apple. Profile: the username, display name, bio, photo, and favorites you choose to share. Content: ratings, reviews, rankings, comments, and reactions you create. Social: who you follow and block.
We use your email address only to confirm your account, reset your password, and tell you about changes to your account’s security. We do not send marketing email, and we do not show your email address to anyone.
Public Profile
Your public profile (username, display name, bio, level) and the content you post publicly can be seen by other people on Rankd. Deleting your account removes it.
Where It Is Stored
Rankd’s servers and account emails are provided by Cloudflare. Catalog searches and playback use Apple Music; Rankd does not receive your Apple account credentials.
On the Web
Rankd on the web uses only essential cookies: one that keeps you signed in, and short-lived ones while you confirm a code. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and the web shows no ads.
Your Rights
Export your data as JSON from Settings in the app. Delete your account from Settings in the app, or from Account on the web, to permanently remove your data. Contact support for any privacy question.
Advertising (iPhone app)
The app shows an occasional sponsored card in your Home feed through Google AdMob so it can stay free. Ads are never shown on Apple Music content or around playback. Where the law requires it (for example the UK and EEA), Google asks for your consent first, and you can change it any time in Settings → Ad Privacy Choices. With your permission (the App Tracking Transparency prompt), AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier to show more relevant ads; otherwise ads are not personalised. To report an ad, touch and hold it. Rankd counts how many ads are requested and shown each day, with nothing that identifies you. See Google’s policies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. We use no other analytics or tracking SDKs.
