La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful

Born in Brussels to a Congolese father and Angolan mother, Yannick Ilunga aka Petite Noir, has since come to call South Africa his home. Whipping up a mixture of traditional African music, pop, post-punk and rap—before blending it all together with elements of psychedelica and EDM—his sound is as difficult to pin down, as it is to shake from your system once you hear it. Restrained, hypnotic and delightfully abstract—welcome to Ilunga’s fascinating world of "noirwave”.
