Royal Blud - EP

Non-league football fans know Kamakaze better as Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Matt Robinson. He could soon have career choices to make, as this EP reveals him as a talented grime and rap MC. Shifting from self-assurance and wit (“Pull-Ups”) to romantic headaches (“Wifey”), he calls to mind Wretch 32 with his emotional dexterity. Underpinning the words, Massappeals’s production is equally agile–spacious and soulful on “Where’s the Love My G” and thrillingly wired on “Run 4 Ur Money”.
