A State of Trance 2017 (Mixed By Armin van Buuren)

Divided into a beach side and a club side, Armin van Buuren’s 2017 roundup envisions trance not just as musical style, but also as a life-giving pulse. Tracks like Alpha 9’s “The Night Is Ours” and Fatum’s “Draco” are awash in colourful synths and ethereal atmospheres. Meanwhile, van Buuren’s own “I Live for That Energy (Asot 800 Anthem)” characterises the set’s nighttime side with driving grooves, subliminal voices, and a stabbing synth melody that’ll give you goose bumps, summing up the spirit of progressive trance in three electrifying minutes.
