Canyons

Canyons sees Laurie Levine step into a brave new world. Moving away from her acoustic country and folk roots, the Joburg singer-songwriter now finds herself immersed in a lush environment filled with electric guitars, synths and vast reverbs—produced by Barry Berk. While lyrically this sublime LP vibrates with nostalgia and longing, there remains a distinctly hopeful undercurrent throughout. Guest musicians stop by to help Levine assemble this new universe, including drummer Isaac Klawansky (Shadowclub), bassist Franco Schoeman (ISO) and guitarist Zam Boney (The Slashdogs).
