Sudani from Nigeria (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Alt-rocker Rex Vijayan and award-winning playback singer Shahabaz Amin put a left-of-centre sensibility in the mix on their soundtrack to the football-themed Sudani from Nigeria. The Malayalam comedy-drama marks a cross-cultural passion for the sport with opener “Kurrah (Football Song)”—with its West African instrumentals and dextrous polyrhythmic phrasing by Amin on vocals—while a wind passage in the inspirational “Cherukadhapole” gives that track a light, airy feel. The brief soundtrack wraps up with the elegant “Kinavu Kondu”, featuring Neha Nair and Imam Majboor.
