Sons of Northern Darkness

For their final album before splitting up (for the first time) in 2003, Immortal wrote some of their best songs. The trifecta of “One By One”, the ferocious title track and the whirling death march of “Tyrants” is perhaps the finest opening salvo in the genre. Stacked with insanely catchy riffs, ripping solos and furious tempos, Sons of Northern Darkness set a new bar for corpse-paint commandos everywhere while solidifying Immortal’s reputation as masters of Norwegian black metal.
