World Wide Funk

Bassist Bootsy Collins is one of the few living humans to have played with both James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic, and the all-star continues creating on his own terms, bass first. He begins his eighth solo album with his origin story—it involves dinosaurs—and carries on with his friends: Musiq Soulchild and Big Daddy Kane electrify the electro-flavoured "Hot Saucer", fellow bass mavens Victor Wooten and Stanley Clarke get vintage on "Bass-Rigged-System" and sultry soul singer Kali Uchis smooths out the sensual lead single, "Worth My While".
