Declaration of Independence

In Colt Ford's hick-hop oeuvre, Declaration of Independence stands out for the quality of its features, with an A-list country singer jumping in for the hook on nearly every single track. "Drivin' Around Song" is anchored by a handclap-heavy beat and an Auto-Tuned Jason Aldean, while the fiddle-driven party-starter "All In" swells around a Kix Brooks chorus. But it’s Ford's rapping that always shines through, as on the slow jam "Back", which finds him recalling his hometown in haunting detail, and accepting its inevitable change.
