Savoy Motel

Masterminded by bassist, vocalist and lead songwriter Jeffrey Novak, bell-bottomed Nashville four-piece Savoy Motel deal in a pretty irresistible brand of strutting, glitterball rock. Not that this eponymous debut (which, curiously enough, was actually the band’s third attempt at recording an album) is a one-note act of 1970s karaoke. “Mindless Blues” dissolves into a frantic, proggy wig-out, “Hot One” dabbles with blipping electronica and “Sorry People” brings squelchy P-Funk to the party.
