Tres Hombres

Between Billy Gibbons’ brilliantly passionate guitar playing and Dusty Hill’s ever-compelling gravelly yawps, ZZ Top’s scorching third LP, Tres Hombres, is a work of blues-rock art. Distinguishing itself among the ‘70s onslaught of bluesy rock ‘n’ roll with its unreal precision (“La Grange”), expansive production (“Jesus Just Left Chicago”) and get-up-and-dance rhythms (“Waitin’ for the Bus”), Tres Hombres was a gem in its time, and still has an undeniably spontaneous, right-on feeling after all these years.
