Flamboyant singer-songwriter Alison Goldfrapp and understated producer Will Gregory don’t seem the most likely duo. And, in many ways, their swaggering third record is a work of compelling opposites. Futuristic but served with nostalgia (just see irresistible glam anthem “Ooh La La”) and recorded in rural Somerset but dripping in Studio 54-ready glamor (“Ride a White Horse” even explicitly references Bianca Jagger’s legendary disco entrance), Supernature is a masterpiece of provocative, polished pop.
