Africa Now: July 2026 (DJ Mix)

The pan-Africanist ideal never died—it morphed into hybridised sonic fragments that connect Joburg to Nairobi via Lagos and Accra. One of our favourite evangelists of the continent’s far-reaching musical ingenuity is the UK’s DJames, a Red Bull 3Style UK Champion, worldwide touring DJ, radio host and producer. For his Africa Now mix, DJames prioritised musical boundary-pushers, artists like Al Xapo and Benzoo, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, DJ Maphorisa and Asake, all of whom keep us on the edge our seats waiting for their next move. “I chose artists I’m really excited about, many of whom I’ve had the pleasure to meet and work with over the years,” DJames says. “I wanted to represent the diversity across the continent by showcasing music from multiple countries and genres. There are young producers and artists creating new genres and sounds every week. It’s only going to get better and more diverse as people travel and collaborate.” Hear the DJames vision of Africa Now and check back each month for more one-of-a-kind mixes.
